I went into my standard bank branch in January/February this year in regards to the debt I had with them. I took out a consolidation policy to help and arranged monthly payments. I had changed to FNB to help with my overdraft etc. While in the branch with the advisor during our meeting I was advised to keep my standard bank account open. I received a call only this morning to advise that my account was in debt AGAIN as the monthly service charges were still being deducted from my account. This has now led to me being put back in to the situation I was in before. I was told that my account cannot be closed until the debt has been paid, but each month the charge will still be deducted. So now I have to locate funds to pay off the R1000 debt ran up and continue paying the charge until I have done so. Now I cannot see any way out of this. I am extremely dissatisfied and upset at the information I was provided and the fact it took standard bank over 6 months to contact me regarding the outstanding charges.
