Avoid A1 Assist - lying is right?

After I was in a serious accident, an A1 Assist driver was quickly on the scene. I told him that my car can only be towed by an approved towing company. The man was extremely helpful and helped me when the police arrived. Once my husband arrived on the scene my husband phoned our insurance company who did not answer immediately. As the police wanted my statement he ended the call in order to assist me. The tow truck driver then asked who our insurance company was. When we were done with the police the tow truck driver informed us that he phoned his office and requested them to assist by phoning our insurance company to report the incident. We then received a phone call from our insurance company, or so we thought. The person on the line had all my detail and confirmed that A1was in fact an approved company. On this grounds we signed A1 documentation. Only later when my insurance company did not want to pay for the towing did we realize that the call that we received was actually not from our insurance company but actually from somebody connected to A1. I am really disappointed in this company as I thought they were different from the rest! So please do not fall for this trick!
