Budget Insurance
Hatchback, Minivan and Bakkie owners beware!

I had my insured iPhone and number of portable possessions from a friends Corsa bakkie, while surfing Pringle Bay on the weekend. The items were hidden out of sight behind the back seat of the car (the equivalent boot storage area for a bakkie, hatchback, minivan, or any vehicle that is not a sedan).

Budget Insurance have stated that my items would have been fully covered if I had left them outside the vehicle or even left alone on the beach, however because I stowed them in a locked car, the maximum they will pay out in total is R1500 (before excess).

I have been waiting for 4 days for Budget Insurance to give their final say, which has left me without phone or piece of mind. This has been a highly frustrating experience, with an otherwise efficient company.

I really hope they are able to see there shortcoming before failing me terribly. I have highly recommended Budget to friends and family, in the past, and I fear I am going to have to make a lot of noise if I am not compensated properly.
