Closure of Bank Account didn't happen

As I have moved banks from Standard Bank to Nedbank, I requested Nedbank to perform all my debit order switches. Firstly this did not happen, secondly as my complaint is voiced against Standard Bank. I went into my branch to close my account on the Thursday and they informed me that the account would be closed on the Thursday the 28th June after signing all the paperwork. I tried logging into my account a few times over the weekend and even tried my ATM card and didn't work so assumed the account was closed. To my horror on the 1 July I found all my debit orders have bounced on my Standard Bank account and as the banks in this country are well known for ripping people off with their service fee's I have been charged for all the debit orders that have bounced and am now sitting with this mess. I am small business owner and do not have the time to sort out issues like this as it takes up valuable time I don't have. Further to this I had to wait over 40 minutes at the bank to close the account and will not go through this again.
