Don't get installments back

Last year sometime a guy from Chartis phoned me offering me this insurance. I agreed to take it and after i discussed it with my fiancee we decided to cancel it. The guy from Chartis told me that i can cancel it at any time and they will refund me ALL my premiums paid up to date of cancellation. Today i phoned 0860112077 and the lady there told me that i dont get my premiums back if i cancel this insurance. If i cancelled it within 30 days they would have given me my money back but now after all these months paying this insurance they cant give me back my money?? I was searching for the documentation that they have send me but i could'nt find it because we moved in the meanwhile from one house to another.
