First National Bank
Temporary Loan Rip-Off

Business & Finance

'FNB, how can we take your last few cents out of your pocket just before payday? ' I took out a temporary loan online with FNB on my online banking account in the amount of R650.00. Now, as I understood it, the repayment was due within 31 days, which would make the due date 21 February 2013. Great, I thought... until FNB grabbed R193.00 odd out of my account before a week was through since the temporary loan was accepted!

I actually returned some bedding that I had purchased because I desperately needed that money to make it to the 25th, when I get paid. I now find myself unable to get to work for the rest of the week. I don't understand why the loan is not at least deductible on the day i get paid? I bank with FNB and my salary gets deposited into my current account without fail on said date.

When I called to find out how this matter can be resolved, terms and conditions were thrown in my face and I was told it could take 5 to 7 working days to get the money returned to me.By then, I will not need the money and i will probably be out of a job! All I wanted was for my bank to meet me half-way here. I would have never taken up the loan if I knew that this is what transpires.
