Missing ownership docs and nobody wants to help!!!

I got a car from my grandfather and wanted to put it in my name, but for some reason the car my grandfather bought in 1996 CASH has been marked as owned by the bank!!! Nobody t the bank is willing to help and the branch can only point me in the direction to the useless back office. I need the car put in my name, how do I do this and why is the car in ABSA's name???
