Absa
Bank Manager unable to speak local language

Business & Finance

In Leeudoringstad, the language spoken by 90% of the local population is Afrikaans, yet the appointed manager does not understand a word of it. This has led to most people who wants to do any kind of transaction at the bank not being understood, so they close their accounts and move to another bank. Even the companies are closing their accounts and moving to FNB. Complaints have been logged to Absa, but they don't bother.
One thing I would like to make clear, is that this is not race related. I have found that Afrikaans is used across the board, by black, white, colored etc. people in the town, and most of them can speak little to no English.
My grandfather always told us that you don't change banks, you press the bank manager to fix things. But how can you do this if you are not even understood?
Of my family there, only one person still has an account at Absa.

The message is simple: Get a new manager or you can expect to close the branch in the next year.
