I am currently living in Saudi Arabia. Before I left SA I gave my daughter full power of attorney over my affairs. A couple of months back I asked her to adjust my Outsurance policy on my car. Given its age, I figured I only need 3rd party insurance.

A simple task, requiring no more than 30 minutes attention, one would suppose. Hah! Not for the dynamos at Outsurance! Many companies have only 2 speeds; dead slow and stop. Outsurance appear to have only the latter.

After some months of un-returned calls, rudeness, ineptitude and apathy, I emailed Lois Nel and asked him to please resolve the matter as a matter of urgency. I also stipulated that if they were unable to adjust my policy then he should cancel it forthwith. It is now about a week later and I have not had the courtesy of a reply. I have now instructed the good Mr Nel to cancel my policy forthwith.

On the evidence it would appear that Outsurance is in the throes of a financial or managerial collapse. I have had awful service from SA companies before, but Outsurance surely raise the bar with their amazing display of apathy, lethargy and blatant contempt for their clients. Clients without whom they would have no job.
