On Tuesday June 11, 2013 at 5:49 p.m. I got two sms's back-to-back with respect to two purchases off my credit card. I immediately called the Division, explained these two amounts were and cancelled the card. First thing the next morning, Wednesday, I called the Card Division and explained same and the two amounts were pending payment. These amounts were reversed back into my account and I explained that these were not to go off due to. Thursday morning I called again to find out if my now "closed account" is intact only to be told the two merchants had been paid! I was told - the merchant has the "right" to be paid, I must lodge a dispute and see if I can get refunded, which depends on the merchant. Why have a 24-Hour Hotline if nothing is going to be done until after the merchant (s) have been paid? I am still to hear back from the Division. Why was the money allowed to leave my account after reporting this? Asked about CC Insurance and was given a number to call which is for travel insurance?? Will be changing my bank as this is a complete joke. It seems at Std Bank the customer is nothing, the merchant is No. 1.
