I applied for a loan through Bruma Finance & was initially approved on the 1st form I completed.

I was subsequently asked to submit 2 months bank statements, copy pay slip & completed another questionnaire, which I did.

After a couple of days I called Sizwe to find out what the status was of my application and he said he would call back in 5 minutes.

I received the following response via e-mail:

Good day.

I do not have the number that you requested to be called on. I think I must have not saved it.
Unfortunately your application was declined due to company ppolicy.
As reflected on your ID, you were not born in South Africa.
We understand that you have been a citizen for many years but your credit profile does not allow us to make an acception.
I apologise for any inconvenience caused.

I stated on the 1st form I filled in that I was not born in SA but had been here for 38 years. I have heard of various forms of discrimination but NEVER for being born in another country. I married a south African, I have 3 south African children and a south African grandchild. South Africa is my home!!!
