Standard Bank
Not willing to settle insured credit

Business & Finance

I have been working for Standard Bank as a temp staff/ employee since 30 September 2010 till 07 June 2013. I took a loan and credit card with standard bank and also took their insurance which covers me for death, disability and retrenchments. I was granted both credit facilities. I approached the bank with a letter stating that I am no longer employed (Termination of Assignment) and would like my debt to be settled as I took insurance for it and have never skipped a payment. I was told that I have to pay every cent as I was a temp staff and wasn't supposed to get the credit. I asked why was I given the credit in the first place if I cannot have it, but the consultant had no answer. What game is Standard Bank playing with my life as I was a temp for 3 YEARS and now they refuse to pay up the insurance that they advised is compulsory with my credit facilities? I liked them; I really did, and I still want to continue being their customer but the treatment and is just too much. I cannot afford to be blacklisted at such a young age... I'm thinking of taking this to the banking ombudsman... Why give me credit that I'm not supposed to get and punish me for it?!
