I opened a cheque account recently thinking I would be better off at Standard Bank than at FNB as a foreigner. They told me I would have to wait 6months before overdraft and credit card facilities were granted. I was ok with it until I realised other foreigners were being granted these immediately. SO I COMPLAINED & I WAS GUARANTEED THAT STANDARD BANK WOULD NOT GO BACK ON THEIR WORD TO THOSE WHO HAD BE AWARDED OVERDRAFTS & CREDIT CARDS ALREADY. What do they do they go back on their word & send emails to people they have already given these facilities to say SORRY WAIT 6MONTHS. Dear Standard Bank is it these clients YOUR CLIENTS' fault that YOUR consultants did not know procedure or that YOUR system was still generating overdrafts and credit cards? They are now worse off at Standard Bank than they were at FNB. How can you falsely inform your clients to get them on board and to open accounts then change your mind to kind of say "OH NO, NOT ANYMORE JUST KIDDING WAIT 6MONTHS WE DIDN'T REALISE THAT YOU ARE A FOREIGNER" This is so disappointing I can not believe THE GREAT STANDARD BANK COULD GENERATE AND APPROVE OVER DRAFT AND CREDIT CARD AND A WEEK LATER GO BACK ON THEIR WORD.
