I'm applying for a home loan with Standard Bank of which my family and I've been customers for more than 20 years. Shortly after my home loan application was received by Standard Bank, I was notified that the application was declined due to a bad credit score. I couldn't understand why, and queried the case with Standard Bank. They informed me that it was due to a credit card payment that defaulted. This referred to an incident which happened about 2 months ago and was an error of Standard Bank for which they apologized in a letter and informed me that the mistake is being rectified. Obviously this was not done and I am still sent from pillar to post by Standard Bank's incompetent consultants. I contacted Credit Expert and offered them the bank's letter; they stated that they are unable to clear this unless the bank contacts them directly. My application can't be processed unless this is rectified with all the credit bureaus. I am willing to take this issue as far as I can until it has been resolved. If I don't get immediate action, we will close all our personal as well as business accounts (23 in total) with Standard Bank. I will also contact the ombudsman and the media.
