NOTICE PERIOD

Business & Finance

I gave notice on a 10/90 deposit acc in March, however I let the bank know that I would no longer need the funds end of March and I was told in an email:

"Regarding the 90/10 account, if we do not transfer the money from it on the maturity date as agreed, it will automatically re invest its self after 7 days of the maturity date. And continue as a normal 90/10 account without any notice."

I understood this to mean I do not have to give notice shoucl I need the money. I was in the bank on the 31.05 to see Anne Mahlangu as I now needed the money. She first told me it is available but when I got to the cashier the money could not be trf. Back to Anne who then told me I now need to give 60 days notice and and that the email I received was incorrectly worded. She said she wld take it up with the relevent person / manager on the Monday - to date I have not been contacted! I have been with ABSA for yrs and this is defnitely not the service I expected. If it was not such an inconvenience to close my accounts and go to another bank, I wld have that on Monday already!!
