Failure to get my money back

I took out a savings policy with Metroplitan in 2009 and i called into their call centre last year in march to have it cancelled. I was told to fax a copy of my i.d so that everything can be processed, i did as i was told and was told i would get my money on the 1st of June 2013. Today i call into the call centre and i was told that i wont get the money as i only qualify for a loan which i will have to pay back, i explained to the call centre agent that i have cancelled my policy and all i want is my money back and she started telling me that my policy has restrictions and would only get some money in october 2016 and i told her that i have been calling in for months just to make sure that i was given the corrcet information and i was told on several occassions that i would get my money on the 1st of June. I just dont understand how all of this is possible because it has been cancelled. I wouldnt advise anyone to take out a policy with Metropolitan because they are unreliable and they give out false information. I hope this will be sorted out very soon because i plan on taking serious action against this company.
