Double excess on one claim

At the beginning of May, I found that my geyser was leaking, and dripping onto my tiled floors. I turned off the water, and contacted Absa Insurance. They gave me a claim number, and informed me that I would have to pay an excess of R500 before the job would be done. I agreed, and a plumber arrived the same afternoon. They found that the geyser had to be replaced, and after paying them, I asked if they would be repairing the water damaged ceiling. I was told that this would be done by a carpenter, whom they would contact.
The carpentry company arrived the following day to take measurements, and told me that I would have to pay an excess of R500. I explained that I had already paid the plumbers, but was told that ANOTHER excess was payable on this repair. I enquired from Absa as to why there was 2 excesses for one claim, I was told that this was the policy. Needless to say, I will not pay R500 to have a section of my ceiling re-painted! I was given a claim number, and told that the excess was R500 - period. Another Absa rip-off. Pete
