First National Bank
FNB refuses to free me from the suretyship contrac

Business & Finance

In 2005 still at university i was working for Legal wise as a temp, and my sister was buying a house via fnb, and the loan was approved. However, the bank informed the bond attorneys at the time that my sister should get someone to sign with her even if its someone who will be buying grocery aside, as the concern from FNB was her affordability. i refused several time, knowing my sister and her bad paying record. the attorneys called me to their office, asking me to please help my sister, as this will not be a budden on my side. and it will give me a good name once i one day decide to buy a property. they didnt even care that i was a temp at the time. two years later my sister failed to pay up the Bond instalment, and i was getting called left right and centre from FNB homeloans. i explained to them its not my house its my sister's house, still nothing. the bank sold the house, as a result i was not even part in the signing of the documents, but there was a shortfall of R85ks. once again my sister failed to pay up, and this appears on my record also. can i ask that FNB removes my name from this and deal with the real debtor? this is so frustrating for me i cant buy anything.
