Banks trying to collect prescribed debts

I owed Nedbank money back in 2006 for an overdraft and unfortunateley due to circumstances beyond my control I couldn't pay them. Now 7 years later they have a number of debt collectors still trying to collect the same debt which has prescribed by South African Law... who pays for all these threatening calls and letters?

I have reported this to Nedbank and they have been trying to sort it out since December 2012; I have also reported it to the Ombudsman for Banking Services after completing a lengthy document plus I went and saw them... they don't even have the courtesy of responding to my emails.

But these debt collectors still keep calling in fact three different companies are trying to collect the same prescribed debt... they are the only ones responding!!!
