I have an account with FNB for many years and i am unhappy with the service i have received and this has led to me closing the account. I went into the branch to close my account on Saturday the 11 May 2013 and i was told that there is a debit of R19.90 that must run i must come in on Monday and the account will be closed. i went on Monday and to my surprise i owe the bank R57 and before i close the account i must pay them that service fee which is pro rata. I put money into the account the Tuesday and i went in to the branch again and requested that the account be closed the agent that dealt with my request cancelled the card! instead of closing the account! Now i am being charged bank charges for an account i wanted closed! why must i struggle with this bank when i have requested this over a week already and now i must pay before i close this account. I will not pay any charges all i request is for this account to be closed!!! how hard is it to fulfil this simple request? Can someone tell me why i have to fight tooth and nail for something so simple when your incompetent agents do not follow a simple request?
