I recently applied to have my Standard Bank Homeloan made into an access bond for renovations. I applied in the Rosebank branch & checked the form with the consultant. I was told it would take 3 working days to get a response. 2 weeks & nothing so I phone Homeloans to investigate. After much discussion, persistent questions & holding I have discovered the following. My application was sent back to the branch because it wasn't stamped. The application was escalated, the branch informed but still nothing was sent thru. Escalation has now been closed. I also confirmed that no attempt had been made to contact me about this, none! The advice: "Go to your branch & make sure they stamp the application & fax it through to us." I would have thought, the absurdity of asking a customer to travel to the branch to check they are doing their job was obvious so I asked if was possible that homeloans simply phone them and ask them to do it asap. "I'm sorry Madam, we don't make inter-branch calls for applications like this." Further proof that SB has copied my ID, assigned a number to it an fed that number into a system and that is all I am to them, a number lost in a system. It's gross!
