Standard Insurance stinks

Business & Finance

On 18 March I have a leaking geyser. SIL repairs it in quick time. On 28 March I go to church. As we leave there is a thunderstorm. Get home - no electricity. Phone SIL on Good Friday (twice) and am told I must get my own person to do a temp fix. Lodge a claim on 2 April. Unfortunately as I had good service a few weeks before, I don't keep record. Phone again and again and again. Meanwhile I have to live with extension cords running through the house. An assessor comes and looks (white Golf). Get a phone call after about a month saying I will get a cash settlement. Still I wait. And phone. Eventually ANOTHER assessor comes out. Nobody knows anything about the first assessor nor about the phone call regarding the cash settlement. Today after over 6 weeks, I get a call saying that the claim cannot be honoured as there is no proof of lightning damage but I can review it by proving that there was. Which means I must pay someone to come and do another assessment and maybe this useless division of Standard Bank will honour the claim. Should have looked at this site long ago to see exactly how poor SIL really is. Coincidence? Go to church all is OK. Lightning happens. Get home and not OK?
