I had an account with Std Bank when I was about 20-21 which I closed around the time I was 25 as I decided to have a joint account with my husband. Last year we decided that, for financial reasons, it would make sense for me to have my own account again. We went to the bank and opened an Elite Account. I gave all the information to FICA this account, together with current employment and earnings information. After the account was opened, it came to my attention that the information on the account was the information that were given for the previous account I held, which is closed. I contacted the bank numerous times to fix this, to no avail. I again contacted them last week and spoke to the branch directly. The receptionist opened a complaint for me, with reference 53122712 and advised I would be contacted within 24-48 hours by management. It is now 4 business days later, and still no response. The information is still incorrect - my internet profile shows my maiden name, my statements reflect an old address and my earnings information is from 5 years back. This is now even reflecting wrong on the bond application I submitted. Absolutely useless - why FICA at all???
