We had a cloudburst in Bergvliet. My gutter could not cope with the deluge, and my dining room got flooded water running down the walls and onto the carpet. The first assessor that came out to review the damage/staining to the carpets rejected my claim out of hand because, according to him, it was due to lack of maintenance to my roof. I understand that my carpets were old, faded etc. but they were perfectly servicable before they got wet and smelly. I did not realise that the only way to be insured with Outsurance was to make sure everything that you insured was brand new, replaced every couple of years etc. I do not expect the entre carpet to be replaced, but have now had to rip up all the carpeting in the affected area and get it out of the house, as it stank, and Outsurance have not even tried to cover any part of the cost. SHAME ON YOU!
