Etrenchment policy on account did not pay

I had a absa credit card and personal loan and i was retrenched in 2008, absa advised me that i had policy in place that will settle my balance. it as been 5 years going and still it had not been done. i am so tired of calling in and going into the branch as i have no joy.
they have also listed as a bad payer.

i am so angry that these companies can take advantage like this, why do we pay our policy on these accounts if they are not going to be settled.
