Confusing "service". First Approved then declined?!

I applied for a personal loan telephonically at African Bank and after being approved proceeded to the Randburg branch on the 2nd May 2013 where i was assisted by 'Brilliant' who completed my application and again confirmed that i was approved. I signed the contract and happily left the branch thinking that all was finalised.
to my dismay i had not received any sms stating that the funds are going to be deposited into my account so i visited the branch on Saturday 4th May again only to be told that the application is now in the verification stage.
Today i call the call centre to find out what is happening and i am told by a confused agent that i am declined.

I have spent too much time and effort to try to get this loan to be played a fool by you guys. I need feedback on this matter urgently and hopefully by somebody who knows what they are doing!
