Illegal business conduct!!!

My wife did the application on the internet and a sales consultant contacted her at first and asked her a few questions to which she answered truthfully to the best of her knowledge. When it came the questions regarding the car, she referred the agent to me as she felt that I would know more about the model and specifications of the car.
The agent then called me and asked these questions and I gave him all the answers he required and he was happy. Not once during our conversation did my credit record come into question.
The reason they now refuse to pay the amount they disclosed they would pay out, is because of my credit judgments against me and because when they asked my wife whether she/I have any judgments against us she said no. Which to her knowledge, we didn't, because I made arrangements to pay the people I faulted to pay to make amends without her knowledge and the claims department consultant William, told me this afternoon that they were aware of the judgment against me when they approved the application and should never have approved it, and that they would pay back the premiums paid.
AFTER ALL THAT THEY STILL DEDUCTED THE PREMIUM, AFTER DECLINING OUR CLAIM.
