Holiday Accommodation False Advertising

Hi there I am writing to complain about the holiday accommodation and service offered by a man named Rudolph ("Dolph" or "dolf") van Niekerk. His accomodation is a unit in Pearl Place, 27 Rockview Road, Amanzimtoti. Mr van Niekerk advertised his unit on gumtree and I responded after which he sent me a few photos. On the basis of these photos I paid Mr van Niekerk a deposit of R1000 to secure the accommodation for December 2012. Upon arrival however, we discovered that the accomodation that was advertised was misleading - Dolph created the impression that the unit was sea facing when the apartment is located at the back of Dolph's flat with only a slight view from 1 side window, there was no washing machine as advertised in his photos, and the unit was unsafe for two small children with steep stairs (I was aware of stairs but not of the steepness) and no bars on windows so they could easily fall out. Furthermore the swimming pool was located at the top of the building - more stairs and totally unsafe. We stayed for 4 hours before making a decision that this place was unsafe for our children. Dolph said he had other tenants "who could pay more" but he has failed to return our R1000!
