We took an all expense paid trip through Zimbabwe with Gary Clegg. Soon after we started he let us know that he had lost his credit card. He ran a tab with most of the hotels, but then towards the end the hotels demanded payment, so he asked us to cover all the hotel bills on our credit cards. He promised to repay us as soon as he returned to his place in Costa Rica. Then the excuses started. Four months later we have not been repaid, so essentially we paid for this trip twice. Since we are Canadians and the occurred in Zimbabwe and Gary lives in Costa Rica we are having trouble going after him with legal sanctions. Others on our trip plus friends in South Africa helped pay for this trip, even though we had entirely prepaid with deposits into his Canadian bank account. Now he is planning to lead another trip. Perhaps he'll try another!
