Ticket Price Discrepancy

I had been following the price of a ticket from Cape Town to Sao Paolo for two weeks prior to buying the ticket. The price of the ticket had been fluctuating between R10, 524 and R10, 537. Last week Friday (8 March) when I checked again, the price of the ticket increased to R14, 164 (exactly the same ticket). I had assumed that seats are running out, so I decided to buy the ticket later that day. I checked the price of the ticket yesterday (and today), the price of the ticket has returned to "normal" at R10, 524 and R10, 537. This seems extremely unreasonable! Now SAA says I would need to cancel my old ticket (and incur a penalty) and buy the new ticket!
