Lost my luggage due to negligency of the drive

Intercape lost my luggage worth R6500 from East london to Midrand. Upon departure in Midrand, the driver gave me a wrong bag which looked like mine and did not confirm if the ticket stickers correspond. I reported that I was given a wrong bag and handed it over as intercape said they will try to find my bag.on the 18th June they concluded that my bag is lost and I must go to the police station and make an affirdavity indicating what was in the luggage.4 week later after my daily calls and time requesting status update on the matter, they send me a letter saying they are not responsible for the loss and I must accept their token of good will of R1500.This is after their negligent driver offered me a bribe of R1000 on the day of the incident. What suprise me is the fact that they expect me to accept their offer and the fact that they are not responsible when the loss is obviously due to Negligency of their driver. In their offer they tell me about terms and conditions which they have ammended and excuded the fact that "except if such loss or damage arises directly or indirectly from the gross negligence or wilful misconduct of INTERCAPE or any person acting for or controlled by INTERCAPE"
