12 YEAR OLD GIRL LEFT STRANDED AT OR TAMBO

My niece (12) travelling as Unaccompanied Minor fm London to SA return, due to depart SA on 7 Jan. My travel agent was contacted @ 1:39 on 7Jan and told SA234's 20:55 departure was delayed by 1hr, which info was given to us. We arrived ORTambo @ 8pm (2hrs before departure) & were told the flight was closed & the child could not be booked on - told we had to checked in at 7 as normal. I listened to the voicemail my Agent recd & nothing said we had to check-in at original scheduled time. As not 1 person around the check-in & the fact we were told all Stand-by passengers had been given seats, indicates the flight closed earlier than usual! WHY?? SAA knew customers had been contacted re delay so why close early? 2 other passengers @ Excess Baggage had the same issue. & there will be more! SAA Heathrow are horrified & mortified at this, the child & her parents are distraught, SAA staff couldn't care less & it costs us xtra R4300 to rebook her flight home! This same child was left stranded at EL airport for 7hrs the previous day due to a delayed (SAA) flite. This is a 12yr old child for goodness sake - absolutey DISGUSTING treatment & service! SAA you are an EMBARRASSMENT to S.A.! JennyH
