SAA
"no charge" means you will still pay at least R400

Traveling & Tourism

I booked a flight with the most expensive option: "Select" which has the following fare rule:

"Changes allowed at no charge subject to the applicable booking class being available. If the applicable booking class is not available, upgrade permitted to the higher applicable fare."

and guess what, When I needed to change my ticket, the "class" I booked, was conveniently not available, and I had to pay an additional R400 to change the flight. Remember, I did book the most expensive class, the one already costing more than double the cheapest fare.

Oh and by the way, the SAA consultant was quite quick to state even though the fare I booked was still shown to be available on the website, it "is not a live system" and is not available any more on her live system...

I ask you, why isn't this presumably more expensive class available to book, but conveniently the only seat available when you do need to make a change? And then when you get on the plane, there is quite a number of empty seats?

I am sorry, but I don't buy this. It is a mere front to milk an already milked customer.
