On 26/10/13 we booked our tickets to Cape Town from the UK. On receiving the email confirmation on 27/10/13 I had noticed that my partners name was missing an LE at the end of her name. We immediately called SAA to add the additional letters to the name. The response was that we would need to cancel the tickets and then apply for a refund. Bearing in mind that we had spent R32 000 on the two tickets. I called on the following Monday and spoke to an agent by the name of Nathan, who politely told me the same thing, I asked to speak to his line manager and after been put on hold for 5mins spoke to a lady by the name of 'Marta'. She told me the same story. I asked if she was willing to lose both mine and my partners fare and also made her aware that we travel to South Africa twice a year.
A potential earning of R64 000, to which her reply was, yes sir, it is company policy. I then emailed SAA via Facebook who confirmed that this was not the case and apologised but was assured that this could be corrected for an admin fee of? 25. I was happy to pay for this. I called the number provided here in the UK. I spoke to Mary-Ann, who was helpful to begin with
