On 19/10/2013 my husband and I boarded a My Citi Bus at Thibault square (en route to the Waterfront). At the time my balance was R44 and my husband's was R39. When we arrived at the Waterfront (at about 16:20) the tap out system was not working and we were unable to tap out.

I called My Citi call centre to report the incident on Bus B2 and was given a reference number (7200033777). When we checked our balances upon our return to Thibault Square, mine was R24 and his was R16. Meaning I had been charged R20 for the first journey, while he had been charged R23).

The call centre agent I spoke to on Saturday informed me that I would be contacted by MyCiti the following Monday and when I hadn't heard anything 5days later I wrote them an email. I was the asked to fill out an appeal form with all of the details again and after about two weeks of back and forth this was the response I got: "On the transaction history of your myconnect card there is no evidence of irregular fees, a penalty does not reflect on our report. Accordingly to the records you were not charged a penalty."

Forget the fact that their website states that the maximum possible fare for this journey is R6.80- PATHETIC
