QVC CONTRACTS

My husband and I entered a contract with QVC more than 10 ten years ago. The maintenance fee each year has risen significantly and is now prohibitively expensive. The annual rising costs with no means to exit the contract is unreasonable and more so if you are unable to use the timeshare. We gave QVC 20 days notice to cancel the contract. QVC has responded by saying the Consumer Protection Act does not apply to this contract as it was entered prior to its promulgation. We are saddled with selling the contract ourselves or exiting based on financial reasons which they indicate will not be easy to do. The spirit of the Consumer Protection Act is to avoid such contracts that bind a consumer in perpetuity. It seems unfair that QVC may be allowed to take such a stance. I request from QVC the process and requirements for cancelling the contract based on financial grounds and the paperwork needed for transferring to a new purchaser.
