Airport Parking system made to make you pay!

I went to collect my Parents from the airport this morning.

As per usual checked the rates and showed 0-15min Free.

I entered at 08:01 and got to the exit boom at 08:15 (14min) if my maths is correct. But for some or other reason the machine showed I was liable for R22 worth of parking. The Security guard (bibb 3341) confirmed it was still 08:15.

We tried contacting the parking booth people over PA system which was not manned as far as we could make out.

I then walked all the way to the booth and in short was told that I had entered, as far as I can tell, into some sort of time vortex, as I was there a total of 18min. Somehow I had been inside the airport longer than what their booths has showed.

The manager Pumla would not understand reason and simply stuck to her guns saying that the system can not be wrong. Question Pumla. Who manages your system? Simply put, a human and humans make mistakes.

Anyway the whole story cost me an additional R33 in time and money wasted. I honestly felt like just ramming off the boom and letting them know what it feels like to loose money for a stupid reason.

When walking back to my car I had to witness the security guard being repremanded.
