My checked in bagged was broken into on 6 August when flying from EL to JHB. I noticed the had taken place as soon as I removed my bag at the collection carousel in JHB. I reported the incident immediately and SAA baggage service guy inspected my bag.

I had to go through an arms length of red tape (documentation, affidavit, copies of ID ect) all whilst at the airport at great displeasure. I was informed that I was the 3rd person from EL to be affected in the last couple of days? Seemed strange at the time on why nothing had been done?

I was informed that SAA policy stated that my claim would be actioned and settled within 21 days. Well after 21 days I called the baggage service desk gave them my reference number. Only to be told that nothing had been done with regards to the claim and that the information had not even be placed into the "system" as yet.

I could not believe the utter uselessness of the people I was dealing with. The lady promised to call me back ASAP, well after 1 week I am still waiting. I have also in the interim send emails to the baggage services - any guess on a response? - only the computer generated response.

Just poor!
