So last year, I took out a contract for R185 p/m so that my son could get the Xbox. Upon signing the contract, I destroyed the sim card when I got home, seen as my son was only 9 at the time and didn't need a cellphone! Every month the debit order of R185 comes off my banking acc, as expected. Last month, to my absolute shock, the amount of R1170.35 was deducted from my acc from Cell C. Upon investigation, I received an invoice (the first one I'd received since signing the contract!!!) And to my horror, over a 4 DAY PERIOD, was charged for calls that exceeded R1000. Now how were calls made from a sim card that was never even put into a cellphone??? When I reported this, the customer care consultant, Sanelisiwe Msomi, was not very helpful to say the LEAST and said that she would escalate the call and get the technical department to contact me so that they could establish if the calls came from the original sim (for which I would then be responsible for the account) or from a sim card, and then using the cellpone towers, they could triangulate where the calls came from. 2 weeks later, I AM STILL WAITING FOR THE CALL!! Cell C needs to rethink the meaning of CUSTOMER CARE
