Broken phone

Telecommunications

I took out a new contract about 2 months ago and received a Samsung Galaxy note 2. On Sunday 3 March I took the phone out of my pocket, opened the cover (it completely covers the phone) and the screen was blank. I rebooted the phone and the screen remained blank. On Monday 4 March I took the phone to Vodacare in Somerset-West. Their feedback is that the screen is cracked and will not be covered by the warranty. It will cost R2200 to fix.

I did not see any cracks on the phone. The consultant who booked in the phone also did not see any cracks. The job receipt confirms this. Now they will not fix the phone as the screen is cracked due to "mishandling". Whether the screen is now cracked or not I do not know, what I do know is that I did not mishandle the phone and could not spot anything physically wrong with it (neither could the consultant). I have had smartphones for years and if a new phone stops working like this there is a manufacturing default.

I JUST WANT TO SPEAK TO THE RIGHT PERSON ABOUT THIS. VODACOM CLIENT CARE REFERRED ME TO ICASA, THEY REFERRED ME TO THE NCC WHO DOES NOT ANSWER EMAILS OR PICK UP THEIR PHONE. NOT A CALL CENTER AGENT PLEASE.
