Domain transfers delay

What is happening with your Domain transfer process? Why does it take 5 to 12 working days to transfer a domain from another ISP to Hetzner?

We have a project that cannot be delivered for risk and integration reasons before the domain transfer to Hetzner has been completed. It has already cost us 1 week on the project and is now likely to be 2 weeks of lost productivity.

Someone please tell me why?

In the old days it used to be a 24hr process if not less.
