Contract cancelled before requested date

I emailed Vodacom to inform them that i would like my contract cancelled as i was leaving the country. On the email i requested my contract to run until 11 April 2013 which is the day i leave. They responded saying i need to pay over R2000 for early cancellation because my contract is only due to expire in 2014. I paid the money and sent them proof of payment and the next thing i know, my contract is cancelled and i am now on prepaid! I paid over R2000 even though i will not be getting the service from them but just requesting an extra 2 weeks while I'm still in the country is a problem?? I called their call centre numerous times over the last week and everybody seems to be telling me i am at the "wrong department" and i keep being transfered... I only have two weeks left in the country and would really like to use the service i have already paid for!! This is daylight!!
