I currently have two contracts with Cell C. So due to the reason that i don't use the other number often. I proposed that Cell c consolidate the contracts at a value higher than the combined contracts. If this was not possible then cell c would have to accept that query as a cancellation of my contract with them. This was on the 28th February 2013. Weeks later i called to find out how my request was being handled. I was informed that the consolidation was not possible. So i then alerted them to my intention to cancel the contract. The Ref number was 3031203105. Today i called cell c and they are offering or asking me to pay R 1613.78 to cancel the contract with them. However this is a violation of the Section 14 Consumer act, Which states that I can forward a cancellation as a consumer giving the service provider a period of 20 days. I then am liable to pay a reasonable cancellation fee, which factors such as the outstanding amount of the fixed term contract and several other factors will be taken into account to determine the cancellation fee. However Regulation 5 (3) provides that suppliers cannot charge a consumer a charge that would have the effect of negating on cancellation
