Cancel my contract

Hi I've been off this 8ta contract for long now an I'm owing some arrears for it reason being I've been unemployed for the last 3 months haven't been able to pay for this contract and the phone has been and I've being trying to get hold of 8ta to cancel this contract but been unable to do so. what should I do?
