IPhone 5 ---- -- NO insurance

I bought an apple iPhone 5 in January and was called on a Monday to come and collect. I took half the day off from work in order to collect my new phone and ran to MTN, when I got there it was 16h00 and we started with the process of opening my contract with Tlhaloso, after everything was done she asked me if I wanted insurance on my phone and I agreed. She said she will apply for the insurance the following day and everything will be sorted because they wanted to close, I then agreed with her and put my trust in her. A few days later I was called by a gentleman from MTN asking me for some of my details and whether I want insurance, I told him that I do and he said he doesn't pick up anything but will set it up only to find out that a month later when my phone was lost and I wanted to claim, I was told that there was no insurance on the phone from MTNSP. I went to the branch and got the numbers for 24 hour mobility hoping it was insured there but still they did not pick up anything. I am now stuck paying for a phone I don't have because of some MTN employee's mistakes, I am not at all satisfied and am trying to understand what really happened with my insurance.
