Telkom
Effective line cancellation of 60 days

Telecommunications

At the end of January 2013 I phoned Telkom to cancel my analog voice line effective the end of February 2013. I was told that I could not give notice as the ADSL component of my line was with another service provider (Mweb). I had already given the 30 day notice required on my Mweb account in order that the service be terminated at the end of February. I spoke to the supervisor at the call centre who said he would make a note that I had given notice and that I should call again once the ADSL had been cancelled. I called again this morning (1 March 2013) and was told that I need to give 30 days notice and that I would have to pay the line rental for the notice period.

Why can the notice periods not run concurrently? Effectively Telkom is enforcing a 60 day period for cancellation of their service.
