I have requested a transfer of a fixed line on 9 January 2014 and was asked whether the line at the old address may be cancelled effective immediately as part of the transfer process. Ref No 92061724A (Line number 012 333 8908)

This was confirmed, and I was told by the consultant that I will not be invoiced for the line (nor the transfer. Note, these are 2 different things I was told I would not be invoiced for).

Now, a month later, the line is still not transferred. I have escalated the problem on ref no 575980 and was told that I would be contacted 22 January 2014 on the escalation follow-up. I was not contacted at all, despite calling Telkom every day since 16 January to follow up on the problem.

I received a message on a problem with my account. A call-center consultant in the billing department is now telling me that I need to pay the invoice I received for a period starting AFTER my line was cancelled at the old address. The bill started on 12 January but my line was cancelled on 9 January for the transfer to the new address.

Now I have no service, cannot follow up on technical faults, and I doubt that Telkom will resolve the technical problem before I pay for NO SERVICE.
