Stupid cancellation taking too long - two weeks?

On the 17th of January I called mtn direct to find out if they have a handset that I'm looking for. As I wanted to buy it for my 7 year old son I wanted a cheap 3" android phone and also his mom was doing the same on the other network. I took the phone with them not knowing that my wife also found the very same phone but cheater than them, then we agreed that she will keep the contract on her side and I will cancel with mtn. The very same day I contacted mtn to cancel and was told that an email will be sent to the consultant that help me to do upgrade. Gave them all my details for the consultant to contact me. I have been calling mtn several time regarding the cancellation but till today nothing has been cancelled. I have tried and very tired to call mtn and be told the very same thing over and over again.

Why can't any consultant cancel the contract, why must it be given to the very same person whom you can't get hold of the next time you call? Without customers there won't be mtn, why must I run around everyday as if mtn is doing me a favor?
