WHY I MUST PAY 4 MTN ERROR?

#I took contract with mtn and agreement was that they will deduct the money monthly from my account not me paying money direct to their account.
# 6 months before my contract end, MTN decided to stop deducting money from account, without my knowledge and for what reason I don't know.
#I lost my phone and i notified MTN about it and i have to battle with mtn recommended insurance about this matter not worrying that mtn stopped deducting money from my bank account.
#after i solved my problem with MYN reccommended insurance, i went to mtn to ask for upgrade, I was dished with R6000 bill that I owe them, when i enquire they say i must pay their lawyers since the past six months i never pay my account, i ask them how? i still use same account, still work in the same company and still staying in the same address, i never receive any notifification from mtn that they stoped deducting my account, even they stop is that my problem or their problems?
#why mtn error must be my problems, R6000 oohh my i'm not willing to pay that money, mtn must find way to solve this before i consult consumer rights because to me this is from the customers.
