Contract "upgraded" without my consent

My contract with cell c was due to expire at the end of August, I sent a cancelation letter via email in April to cellC call center. I then received a response informing me that I must send the letter on the last month of the contract. I then sent another email on the first week of August as they requested.
To my suprise at the end of July an ammount of R726 was derbited frm my account despite me not using my sim card for over 6 months. I called the call centre and noone could help. I called again last week, and the lady in call centre told me my contract was not cancelled because "I did something" in July, she couldn't explain what the "something" was. She asked me to call the retention department, I was then told I upgraded the line. Common sense tells me if I upgraded the line then I shud get a new phone..where's that phone? 2. How the can I send a cancelation letter 1 months after I upgraded. What irritates me more is the arrogance I get frm cell c's call centre, they are just not helpfull, and I continue to pay for a line I don't use anymore.
